About oscar

Oscar Evans is a professional musician and composer based in Kingston, Ontario. He is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in the upright bass, trumpet and percussion.

Oscar’s Gotta Start Somewhere EP, released December 2025, features four original compositions and is available on Bandcamp, CD, and streaming services. His new album Sound Permutations, a solo free-improvised record on which Oscar plays bass, drums, and trumpet, will be released on September 5, 2026, and will be available on vinyl, Bandcamp and streaming services.

Oscar was one of six applicants selected for the Isabel Bader Centre’s 2025-2026 IMAGINE Arts Incubator Program. In fall 2026, he will be recording free improvised music with a group of eclectic musicians whom he has selected to participate in this project.

He received a 2026/2027 Album Recording Grant from the Ontario Arts Council to record a full-length album of his original compositions.

In addition to leading his own musical projects, he is an active member of bands including Miranda Ceara and the Odd Fellows Orchestra, the Mourning Doves, the Goat Steppers, and Frank Ryan & Friends.
